Betsey Johnson is a fashion icon. A legend. She also happens to be an extraordinarily fun, kooky character to watch. It stands to reason that any designer who is known for ending her runway shows with a cartwheel would be the perfect person to base a reality show around.
The Style Network series, XOX, Betsey Johnson, follows Johnson as she embarks on a new creative pursuit with Steve Madden, and her relationship with her daughter who just also happens to be starting a fashion line of her own.
Whether you tune in for the fashion, the mother/daughter drama, the business aspect, or just the humor of it all... XOX, Betsey Johnson is definitely worth a watch. Sundays 8/7C.
Last night Project Runway crowned Michelle Lesniak Franklin the Season 11 winner. If you're like me, you're a little disappointed. Not that Michelle wasn't deserving. She is. Her collection was true to her aesthetic, fashion forward, and very commercial. I'm sure she has a great career ahead of her and will go on to do great things.
However, wouldn't it have been nice to see Patricia Michaels win? Not only is she a designer, she's an artist. Her creative collection blew me away. For once it would have been a refreshing change to see artistry win out over commercial viability, but such was not the case. I hope Patricia will still reign supreme and continue moving forward with her amazing talent.

Netflix debuted it's newest original series Hemlock Grove this past weekend. Laurie Fortier, who portrays 'Marie Godfrey,' was kind enough to answer a few questions about what we can expect from this exciting new series.
The Reel Spin: Hemlock Grove looks incredible... what can you tell us about the show?
Laurie: Well it's not for the faint at heart, that's for sure! Hemlock Grove is a one hour mystery based on Brian McGreevy's novel of the same name that revolves around the residents of a former Pennsylvania steel mill. In the first episode a young girl gets killed by someone (or something) ...other killings follow throughout the series. It's a kind of a traditional "who (or what) done it" in a sense. Told in a very unconventional supernatural, beautiful & terrifying way.
TRS: How closely does the show follow Brian McGreevy's novel?
Laurie: Close in the sense that all the characters from the novel are in the series. The difference is that some characters were expanded. My own character 'Marie Godfrey' and 'Linda Rumancek,' 'Peter's' mom played by the talented Lili Taylor are great examples ... You figure a book is 318 pages which would normally suffice for a 2 hour movie. We were shooting 13 hours or the equivalent of 1000 pages! But I think the filmmakers captured the nuances and weirdness of the book. Liberties were definitely taken with the ending, which leave the door open for season 2.
TRS: Your character, 'Marie,' is married to Dougray Scott's 'Norman.' How would you describe their relationship?
Laurie: Icy cold. Strained. I'm definitely in survival mode, just trying to keep my family together while my husband is off philandering with my sister-in-law. OUCH.
I see 'Marie' as Mother Earth here, trying to remain grounded amongst all the dysfunctional craziness of the Godfrey family. I think somewhere buried in me though is a dark twisted side.
TRS: In addition to yourself and Dougray Scott, Famke Janssen and Lili Taylor are also a part of the series... what is it like to be part of such a strong ensemble?
Laurie: It's always fun to be part of a collective passion for playing pretend. Specifically, I've been fans of both Famke Janssen & Lili Taylor for years, so that made it that much more sweet.
I think we all felt very empowered to take creative chances and twist boundries because Netflix gave us and the writers and directors that freedom.
TRS: In keeping with the gothic theme of the show, I hear there will be werewolves... Any other surprises?
Laurie: Not only are there werewolves, there is the MOST EPIC WEREWOLF TRANSFORMATION that is a MUST SEE created and directed by Deran Sarafian. There are Upirs (thats a Roman term for a vampire that can travel during daylight). Oh and there's an Easter egg hidden somewhere in episode 13 that the filmmakers left as a preview of what's to come in season 2!
All 13 episodes of the first season of Hemlock Grove are currently available for streaming on Netflix. And, if you're not already intrigued enough, check out the trailer for the series below.
I don't want to give away too many spoilers in case there are some of you out there who still haven't watched last night's exciting season finale of Dallas. But, let me just say there were so many twists and turns your head will spin.
Questions were answered...namely "who shot J.R.?" And, more questions were posed... leaving viewers on the edge of their seats.
Some things were made certain, however. (Spoiler alert) 'John Ross' (Josh Henderson) couldn't have said it better, "The only person who could take down J.R. was J.R." I loved that. A fitting tribute to the mystery of his death and to the iconic Larry Hagman character. Truer words were never spoken.
Speaking of truth, it looks like Henderson's 'John Ross' is also going to stay true to his character's cheating, manipulative ways. When his mother, 'Sue Ellen' (Linda Gray) asks him to please be good to his new wife, he asks if she thinks he's a scoundrel. Well, judging from the final scene (which if you haven't seen, you must)... it looks like once a scoundrel, always a scoundrel. If nothing else, it makes for exciting television.
Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the stellar song that played about midway through the show with the lyrics "all I know, the devil's a liar." It's not the first time we've heard the song on the show... it was used earlier in the season as well. It's an amazing track and many of you have been asking me for the artist info. My sources tell me the track is entitled "Liar" and recorded by The Unknown. I hope it will be available for download soon. As many of you have pointed out, it is an incredible tune, not unlike the show itself.
