The countdown continues for CMA Music Festival: Country's Night to Rock. Airing this Wednesday, August 3rd at 8/7c on ABC, the special promises to bring country music fans an incredible night of performances and collaborations from this summer's CMA Music Fest in Nashville. Today, let's take a look back at night two of the fantastic four night event.
When the night starts off with Chris Stapleton, you know it's going to be a good night. "Tennessee Whiskey" anyone? A tough act to follow, but Sam Hunt was certainly up to the task... When he sang "Make You Miss Me," the adoring fans in front of the stage could hardly contain their excitement. I think it's pretty safe to say they are already missing seeing him perform. Thankfully, the special is only a couple days away, so they can relive some of his exciting set then. Eric Church thrilled fans with "Mr. Misunderstood," and Carrie Underwood closed the night by showing off her harmonica skills... is their anything she can't do? But, for me, the night was all about Hank Williams Jr. Seeing him perform "Family Tradition" -- well, let's just say, I still have chills. I have sung along to that song for years to a million different cover bands, but to be able to be in the audience as 50,000 people sang along with the actual man himself... that was a moment I'll never forget. Turns out Hank was just getting started though... The surprise collaborations continued as he had Justin Moore, Chris Janson, and even Eric Church join him on stage. Legendary indeed.
