Rashida Jones is smart, sassy, and beautiful. Therefore, it shouldn't be a surprise that the same can be said for Celeste and Jesse Forever, a film Jones not only stars in, but one she co-wrote as well.
Andy Samberg stars as 'Jesse' to Jones' 'Celeste.' The two have amazingly believable chemistry. I want them to be a couple. Seriously. In fact, I think that is why the movie plays so well on screen, because the chemistry is so real, it's easy to become quickly invested in the two characters... their love, their problems, and their subsequent struggle to come to terms with their relationship throughout the film.
The attention to detail in the relationship between 'Celeste' and 'Jesse' is played out in the comedy as well. Of course, both Jones and Samberg know how to bring the funny, but there is a subtlety to it that is really refreshing. One of the running jokes involves such simplistic props as lip balm and baby corn. Yes, baby corn. Don't worry, I'm not going to ruin it for you, but trust me when I say that it is simple, subtle, and hilarious.
Here's hoping Celeste and Jesse Forever will usher in many more films written by and starring the lovely Rashida Jones. After all, smart, sassy, and beautiful isn't always so easy to come by.
